BARTER BUREAU management and team understand the importance of your personal privacy, and is committed to protecting your personal information; as we comply with both the Egyptian laws of data privacy and the universal privacy policy principles, which regulate how we may collect, use, disclose and store your personal information, and how to change and/or correct them at your convenient.

About your personal information

We only require and collect the information needed by our business to function and perform for your benefit, and that would include:

  • Providing you with BARTER BUREAU services and benefits which are described literally on our website.

  • Related activities to support those functions (i.e. administration, account management, marketing, promotions, events, legal, security, customer support, finance and human resources).

  • Planned activities for the future including promotions, applications, communication tools, new trade opportunities, extra services, etc.

What personal information do we collect about you?

  • Your full name, personal/national ID, residential address, email, phone number, utility bills, marital status, number of children, etc.

  • Business name, position, website, social links, number of employees, location, field/industry, company registration form, tax ID, branches, etc.

  • Financial information such as your bank account, credit cards, employment details, creditors, debtors and all information needed for your personal/business credit assessment.

  • Details about your goods and/or services that you produce or provide, prices, payment methods, costs, profit margins, suppliers, distributors, existing clients, sales and purchases you traded within our network (i.e. trading history).

  • If you are applying for a position with us, we collect some information about you to help us decide about your application, including your full name, date of birth, phone number, resident area, work history, work references, marital status, military status, current job, current salary, etc.

  • If you are contacting us for questions, inquiries, sales lead, subscription, registration, complaints, attending one of our events, we will ask for and require related information about you in order to fulfill your requirements.

  • We keep your information in our database whilst we deal with you. Yet we will remove this information from our database when we have no further need to keep a record of them, except if we are required to keep it by law for legal issues and/or purposes.

How we collect information about you?

Literally we collect your personal information directly from you. We may record and keep your contact details when you call or communicate with us; when you fill out our membership application form; when you purchase a product or service from within BARTER BUREAU business network; when you participate in a trade transaction (i.e. sales and/or purchase); when you provide your contact details via web, mobile, messages or email; when you ask us for information or request something from us.


Sometimes we might collect personal information about you from other parties (i.e. another person or business), or from a publicly available source (i.e. retailer, wholesaler, any person or business references); or if you are an employee of one of our business partners (i.e. client, supplier, marketing researcher, promoter, event organizer, etc.); we may be given your contact details by your employer or any of your employees, workers, neighbors, or our service providers may provide us with your personal information from websites, social media sites, mobile apps., and other related technology sources available.


In terms of credit assessment, credit reporting parties may provide us with detailed information about your credit history upon our request.


We keep your personal information collected from our online sources (i.e. including our website, our social media profiles, comments, messages, and mobile applications if relevant). If you have any questions or concerns about transmitting your personal information via the internet, you may contact us using the contact details provided on our website, as there are other ways for you to provide us with your personal information.


If you visit any of our online presence sources including our website and/or social media profiles, which is a public page that does not require your login, we (or our service providers) will collect information about your visit, such as:

  • The time and date of the visit.

  • Any information or documentation that you download/upload.

  • Your browser type.

  • Your IP address.

  • Other related information and/or Cookies (More information about the Cookies are provided below).

When we receive emails from you, we will retain the content of the email and our response to you wherever we consider it is necessary to do so. Your email address will only be used or disclosed for the purpose of which it was provided. It will not be added to any mailing lists or used for any other purpose without your consent.


Generally, we use lawful and fair means/ways to collect your personal information from different trustworthy sources only if it is unreasonable or impracticable to collect it directly from you, and we will take the reasonable and practical steps to inform you that we have collected your personal information.

Unsolicited Information Statement

In case we receive personal information about you that we have not requested, or we determined that we do not need it, or we could not lawfully collected that information according to our privacy policy, or you refuse to provide us with the details if we had requested them from you, we will destroy or delete these information.

Do you have to provide us with your personal information?

YES! if you do not give us your personal information we cannot give you any information or details about the transactions you may have made within the BARTER BUREAU business network, same goes with the account status and the starting/ending balance of your account or of the other BARTER BUREAU members, or to consider a complaint you may have, or provide you with any of our services or deliver any letters or papers or any sort of other deliverables to you at an address; and you cannot attend any of our connecting/networking events, or participate into any of our promotions or using our system in any means; accordingly we may ask you to provide proof of your personal identity and/or your business legal documents and any other related proofs we require to identify you.

Why we collect personal information about you?

We collect, keep and record personal information about you so that we can perform our functions and activities as described above (i.e. to provide our services to you and/or to your business, to manage your account, to provide you with the information you require, and to respond to any requests that you may have, or to generate and facilitate trade transactions for you and/or for your business so as to comply with the agreements we have with you as one of our members, as well as with other members of the network, business partners, supplier, etc.).


We (or our marketing/advertising agency) may use your personal information for specific marketing and advertising purposes, including your contact details, to provide you with information about products and/or services that may be convenient to you, including those of third parties, which we consider may be of interest to you. We may do this even if you did not ask for it or you did not request it.


Also we collect your personal information for certain secondary purposes that are related to the primary purposes outlined above in order to effectively run our business to serve your personal/business needs and to operate efficiently as per communicated and agreed with you.

When do we disclose your personal information to other parties?

  • We may give personal information about you to a credit reporting agency to obtain a credit report about you, and to allow the credit reporting agency to create or maintain a complete credit information files containing information about you and/or to report credit infringements by you; we take all the possible and reasonable steps to ensure that these parties are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations with respect to the protection of your personal information.

  • We may disclose your personal information to an overseas service provider, for example a cloud data centre or a customer information call centre. If it is not practicable or reasonable for us to gain your consent to disclose your personal information to an overseas service provider, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of the specific countries where we disclose your personal information. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas services provider is bound by privacy and confidentiality obligations.

  • We will respond your request for such access within a reasonable time. If we refuse access, we will provide you with a written notice which sets out the reasons for the refusal and the relevant provisions of the privacy policy principle that we rely on to refuse your access.

  • We may recover reasonable costs in relation to a request for access to personal data and/or information.

Accuracy and correction of your personal information

  • We take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information we collect is accurate, up-to-date and complete. We also take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information we use or disclose is accurate, up-to-date, complete and relevant.

  • Whenever we assure that the personal information we hold is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, we will take the needed actions to correct that information.

  • You may request that we correct your personal information that we hold by contacting us via using any of the contact details provided on our website, and we will react accordingly to correct the information to ensure that it is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant and not misleading. We will consider your request to correct your personal information within a reasonable time. If we do not agree with the corrections you have requested, we are not obliged to alter your personal information accordingly; however, we will give you a written notice which sets out the reasons for our refusal.

This means that, in respect of our paper-based files, we maintain various security systems on our premises, and in respect of electronic files, we (or our service providers) maintain secure electronic network systems.


Whenever we will no longer require your personal information (including when we are no longer required by law to keep records relating to you), we will ensure that it is destroyed or deleted entirely.


We take the necessary actions to ensure that the most up-to-date security measures are used on our website to protect your personal information.
